National Adoption Day

Today was National Adoption day. Dereck, Jasmine, Jessie, and I were invited by Youthville to attend a celebration at Exploration Place. At this celebration over 30 adoptions were taking place.  Three judges, several lawyers, and lots of youthville workers were present to finalize adoptions. We were so excited to be able to be apart of such an amazing thing...the foster care system in America has less kids waiting for their forever families...and that is something to celebrate!
There are approximately 127,000 orphans in the foster care system. And there are more than 2,000 adoptable children in the State of Kansas' foster care system.  These children are orphans, waiting for families to call their own. There is a serious crisis in America...Please if you do nothing else about orphans please pray for them.  Pray for the 127,000 orphans, that they will find a forever family who will love them through the good times and the tough times, pray for the 18 year old teenagers who will "age out" of the foster care system,  have virtually no support, and who will not ever know what a loving family is. And lastly ask God what he wants YOU to do.....it may not be adopt, but there are so many things you can do.

Father to the fatherless, defender of widows — this is God, whose dwelling is holy. God places the lonely in families.
Psalms 68:5-6

Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.
James 1:27

In you the orphan finds mercy.
Hosea 14:3

God Loves orphans, and he makes it clear in his word that he wants us to care for them. Pray about what you can do.
