And the fun begins!

Daddy and Jessie snuggling
We had our first Christmas celebration of the year this past weekend.  This celebration was with Dereck's Mother's side of the family.  This year Uncle Jim and Aunt Sherri hosted the get together, at their beautiful home.  Sherri's home was decorated so beautifully, and she made all sorts of delicious treats, including the most amazing peanut butter balls known to mankind (just sayin) We had a wonderful time visiting, and eating, and laughing. I am so thankful for all my inlaw family...I got a bunch of them and they bless the socks off of me!

Visiting

Jasmine thinks Jenni is pretty cool

Jessie was mezmerized with this talking Nativity. But I can't blame her it was really cool.

This is Dereck's Granny...I can usually never catch a smile on camera so I was thrilled to get one of her laughing.
Jessie was insistent on picking up that rock.

Dereck's Aunt and Uncle made this for us, they are so talented....We LOVE it.

The Denson Family

The girls loved jumping on Jeff's bed, and he didn't care (I think)
So I took advantage and got a shot of them in their new jammies.

Tried getting a normal picture of the girls in their winter wear...and they make it impossible:-)

November 2010

I can hardly believe we are already getting ready to say goodbye to November 2010! This month was full, and fun! I love that both of our girls are starting to be interested in more. They are so fun! Jasmine and Jessie have been talking more and more everyday. Jasmine is still in the process of potty training...she is pretty much potty trained just not poop trained...but anyways this past week Jessie has been taking her pants off saying she needs to potty and then sitting on the potty. So we are going to start potty training her because of her interest in it. It should be interesting! Thanksgiving was a wonderful day. We went to my parents home and many of my extended family members were there and Dereck's Granny and Papa were there too! We are all family and we were so thrilled to be with some of both sides. Then after lunch, naps, football, and games we headed to Dereck's Dad and Stepmoms house and enjoyed another wonderful meal and visited with them. While at their house we left to take Dereck's Grandma some yummy food she is staying at the nursing home right now...we had a wonderful visit with her and look forward to her getting to go home soon! We had a wonderful day and we are so thankful for all of the wonderful family we have!I hope all of you had a wonderful day giving thanks! And now onto the Christmas fun:-)
Here are some pictures from November....In very very random order!

National Adoption Day

Today was National Adoption day. Dereck, Jasmine, Jessie, and I were invited by Youthville to attend a celebration at Exploration Place. At this celebration over 30 adoptions were taking place.  Three judges, several lawyers, and lots of youthville workers were present to finalize adoptions. We were so excited to be able to be apart of such an amazing thing...the foster care system in America has less kids waiting for their forever families...and that is something to celebrate!
There are approximately 127,000 orphans in the foster care system. And there are more than 2,000 adoptable children in the State of Kansas' foster care system.  These children are orphans, waiting for families to call their own. There is a serious crisis in America...Please if you do nothing else about orphans please pray for them.  Pray for the 127,000 orphans, that they will find a forever family who will love them through the good times and the tough times, pray for the 18 year old teenagers who will "age out" of the foster care system,  have virtually no support, and who will not ever know what a loving family is. And lastly ask God what he wants YOU to do.....it may not be adopt, but there are so many things you can do.

Father to the fatherless, defender of widows — this is God, whose dwelling is holy. God places the lonely in families.
Psalms 68:5-6

Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.
James 1:27

In you the orphan finds mercy.
Hosea 14:3

God Loves orphans, and he makes it clear in his word that he wants us to care for them. Pray about what you can do.

Jazz-Ma-Tazz

So on October 19th my smart, funny, talented, beautiful, sweet, spirited daughter Jasmine turned 3.  From the moment I met Jasmine she has captured me and gave me no chance to not fall in love with her. From her sparkling eyes to her smile that melts anyones heart she knows how to get ya.

Now that Jasmine is 3 I am noticing many things are starting to change, here are a few that I have noticed more and more.
-she is imagining more,
-she is playing with others more
- "reading" books to her stuffed animals
-expressing her wants with words more clearly
-starting to have more opinions about what she wants to do
Jasmine's favorite things to eat are
-anything chocolate (a girl after my own heart)
-chicken nuggets
-french fries
-oranges
-banana
-any kind of baked good (muffin, cake, bread)
-Mac and cheese
-spaghetti
-grilled cheese
-green beans
-raw carrots

-Jasmine is very tiny still and the last time she was weiged she weighed 25 lbs. but her height is in the 50% for her age so I know she is growing just up not out.
-Jasmine has been pretending like she is feeding you certain foods, especially if she wants to draw your attention away from getting on to her, she will grab at the air or the floor and say you want a cookie. You can't help but want it.
-Jasmine has also learned that her baby sister wants to do and be wherever she is and is starting to not be so thrilled with the fact.
-She is picking up on things people are saying and then remembering them to use later on:-)
-We are still working on potty training, but I am very proud of her for the progress she has made...we even had our first trip to Wal-Mart in panties and she told me when she needed to go....talk about a proud mom moment.
-Anytime Jasmine says something is scary she shakes and says it in a monotone voice....so funny!
-The second Jasmine wakes up she wants chocolate milk....most days I oblige.
-several times a week when I am in her room with her she will thank me for painting her room pink...she is so thankful for so much but this one is continual.
-she loves to pray at breakfast, lunch, dinner, and bedtime.
If you are sad around jasmine she is very attentive to you by stroking your hair, and asking you if you are alright. She is very compassionate to people when they are hurting.
Jasmine has a love for people and life that is contagious. When we are in stores she doesn't hesitate to say Hello to a small child, or an aging Grandpa, which in turn always brings a smile. She just loves people.
I am so very proud of what Jasmine has, and is becoming, she amazes her daddy and I all the time...and we are so grateful for her little life we are able to shape toward Jesus.

It's All About Jessie

So I have been told that when your child turns 18 months their language starts really taking off...so I have been excited to start understanding Jessie better, therefore "hopefully" having less fits. So here are the words/statements she is saying as of November 2010.
*Mama :-)                  *Dora
*Dada                        *help
*I want some            *baby
*juice                         *Hi
*kitty                          *fish
*nana (banana)           *she tries to say Jasmine
*Gamaw (Grandma)   *yes
*Papa                        *yep
*cup                          *apple
*eat
*please
*thank you
*nose
*eyes
*mouth

She also started making a kiss sound and puckering when she gives kisses. Jessie has a way to get her point across even without words too, by pointing, whining, throwing things, stomping, crying, saying uh uh uh.
*She wants to do EVERYTHING her big sister does, which doesn't always fly with Jasmine.
*She is starting to pretend play more, like cooking play food, and eating play food, talking on the phone, and taking care of her babies. she loves going inside the play tent and then coming out. One day she played with her dolly, a stroller, and a blanket for probably a good 15 minutes. I loved watching this take place because as many people know I loved playing with babies all the way till 5th or 6th grade probably. She seems more interested in dollies than Jasmine does at this time, and if it continues I plan on giving her my very special doll from when I was around 6.
*Jessie also has a very special kitty that my mom got her when she was 5 months old while in CO on our vacation last year...we call the kitty "kitty" and it already looks like she has had it for years, but she loves her anyway.
*Jessie's favorite things to eat are-bananas, crackers, pancakes, any kind of pasta, chicken nuggets, green beans, apples, applesauce, yogurt, cookies, hotdogs, mashed potatoes, french fries, waffles, bean and cheese burritos, mandarin oranges, peaches, cheese roll ups, and any kind of muffin.

Jessie is such a beautiful, sweet, funny, and delightful little girl...and we are so honored that we are the ones she calls Mama and Dada, and that we can train her up in the ways of the Lord.

Thank you Lord for entrusting us with this precious life.  We pray that we bring you honor in how we parent her. Amen
